Wet and Wild

You can't hold back itchy riders. Seven near-professional riders threw caution to the wind in search of ultimate glory and braved the drizzly day with gusto. After missing last week's season inauguration, there was a certain drive in the air to compel riders to leave a warm, dry home. Was it desire, or greed? For you see, with the change in the Points contest this year, every night of participation means a lot. All these riders now have substantial leads over ther rivals. Will they keep their margins through the whole Summer??

As expected, many times were below what I know many of the riders are capable of producing. Analysis afterwards blamed extra clothing, the cold, the wet roads, and general conditioning yet to reach its max. However, somehow John Achterhof did not get the message. His 24 mph effort for a 37:15 was quite impressive, besting 2nd place Roger Bonga by over 3 minutes. I think John transported himself in the future by 6 weeks. What a ride.
